About the role
Advisor for testing services offered by CTI-Maritec involved in laboratory operations and client engagement, supporting technical vessel operations, disputes, and claims.
Responsibilities
- Familiar with ISO17025 standard and its application in laboratory operations.
- Ensure client requirements for testing services are fulfilled within agreed timeframes using in-house enterprise software, ensuring smooth sample processing from receipt to reporting.
- Provide quality technical advisory on fuels and lubricants tested at Maritec’s Laboratories, with a strong understanding of production, distribution, and usage in the maritime industry.
- Continually review technical advisory provided to clients for accuracy and relevance.
- Investigate root causes and suggest mitigating measures for client issues related to poor product quality or difficulties with onboard marine machinery.
- Support clients in Marine Fuel Quality disputes as an independent testing laboratory.
- Track and follow up on internal and external client requests to close cases in a timely manner.
- Analyze large volumes of laboratory testing data to identify meaningful relationships between test parameters and adapt testing programs accordingly.
- Draft monthly and quarterly fuel quality reviews based on testing data.
- Prepare technical bulletins and bunker flashes on problematic fuels using testing data and client feedback.
- Provide technical support to sales for Client Business reviews and assist in developing new sales plans.
- Offer technical support on upcoming IMO regulations, particularly regarding marine pollution and environmental compliance.
- Support new product/service development based on new regulations or existing environmental compliance requirements.
- Engage in business process reviews to identify areas of improvement and define new project scopes with stakeholder consensus.
- Assist in conducting internal audits to verify and improve laboratory processes per Singapore Accreditation Council Guidelines.
- Develop and conduct technical seminars to educate clients on industry trends and promote existing services.
Requirements
- Certificate of Competency: Marine Engineer Officer Class 5 and above.
- Field experience onboard marine vessels and management of marine machinery.
- Relevant experience in marine fuel testing and technical advisory.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, particularly related to marine machinery.
- Leadership skills and experience in rank.
- Strong team orientation with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic environment.
- Strong sense of integrity and professionalism; independent, outcome-driven, organized, and resourceful.
- Hands-on with a positive attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Business analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing technical advisory services to shipowners, ship operators, charterers, and engine builders on bunkering matters.
- Experience in arbitration of bunker disputes.
- Experience providing expert advice on loss management for poor quality bunker stems.
