Job vacancy: Administrator needed
We are seeking an experienced administrator to support the work of the UK Administrative Justice Institute, a national Nuffield Foundation-funded institution based at the School of Law, University of Essex.
This is a half-time (0.5 FTE), fixed-term post starting as soon as possible and ending 30 September 2017, with the possibility of extension. Hours can be arranged flexibly, and fewer hours may be considered if necessary. The salary is up to £18,031 pro rata, depending on experience.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support for the development of the UK Administrative Justice Institute (UKAJI), a UK-wide initiative aimed at building links between researchers, policy-makers, and practitioners, and expanding empirical research on administrative justice. Responsibilities
- Manage paper and electronic correspondence, filing (electronic and hard copy), and archiving using shared folders on Office 365 or other platforms.
- Set up and maintain a UKAJI calendar and a contacts/stakeholder database.
- Arrange meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences, including coordinating locations and dates, sending invitations, preparing meeting papers, communicating with participants, ensuring meetings are appropriately serviced, and occasionally taking minutes.
- Set up and manage UKAJI’s Facebook and LinkedIn profiles.
- Set up and manage a searchable UKAJI research database, ensuring consistency in entries and checking hyperlinks.
- Manage and maintain a repository for archiving research reports.
- Communicate (in writing or orally) with the core team, the wider network of experts, and the Law School and Faculty regarding project activities.
- Handle enquiries from within and outside the university about the project’s activities.
- Liaise with the Law School and Faculty on matters relating to expenses and purchases for the project, and keep accurate records of transactions.
- Provide occasional personal assistance and administrative support to the Principal Investigator (PI) and other core team members on project-related matters.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the PI (Professor Maurice Sunkin) or their nominee.
Pay
Up to £18,031 pro rata, depending on experience.
