Division: Finance – Business Office for Student Organizations
Compensation: $10.00/hour, weekly average of approximately 10 hours per week. Required hours may include days, evenings, weekends, overnight hours, and holidays.
About the role
The primary role of the student clerical position is clerical tasks such as data entry, customer service, and office tasks. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a finance environment while incorporating the Leadership and Professional Development Competencies and the Steps to Leaps Learning Pillars into your learning and performance management experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service (e.g., greet customers, answer phones)
- Prepare disbursements for pick-up/mailing
- Distribute payments
- Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to customers
- Track and prepare documentation for purchasing card reconciliation
- Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
- Follow up with customers
- Office-related tasks (e.g., scan, file)
- Other duties as assigned—special projects
Requirements
- Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University or Purdue Global
- Available to work 10–20 hours per week throughout the academic year, Monday through Friday
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
- Problem-solving, logic, and reasoning skills
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Timely and organized
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
