Receives, stores, and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, replacement parts, shop supplies, and equipment such as measuring devices in an industrial establishment.
Responsibilities
- Keeps records of tools issued to and returned by workers
- Searches for lost or misplaced tools
- Prepares periodic inventory or maintains perpetual inventory
- Requisitions stock as needed
- Unpacks and stores new equipment
- Visually inspects tools or measures with micrometer for wear or defects and reports damaged or worn-out equipment to superiors
- Coats tools with grease or other preservative using a brush or spray gun
- Attaches identification tags or engraves identifying information on tools and equipment using electric marking tool
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum one (1) year related experience working with U.S. Army combat and tactical equipment preferred
- Familiarity with a wide range of tools and equipment associated with support of tracked and wheeled vehicle maintenance
- Basic knowledge of generally accepted warehousing concepts such as storage layout, locator systems, and proper material handling procedures
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle
- Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance (if required)
- Ability to travel (if required)
Work Environment
Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Exposure to disagreeable fumes, cuts, and bruises from using tools in close quarters, and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in the shop area.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear
- Frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell
- Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds
- Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Pay
Hiring hourly rate of pay: $22.90 (Hourly rate set by CBA).
- Current: $22.90
- On or around 6/1/2027: $23.58
Benefits
- Paid vacation (biweekly accrual):
- 80 hours for 0-5 years of service
- 120 hours for 5-10 years of service
- 160 hours for 10+ years of service
