JOB POST: Tax and Compliance Officer at Qatar Airways, Ahmedabad
Role and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will ensure compliance with tax, corporate, and allied laws. The role includes handling tax computation, statutory payments, tax filings, financial reporting, and monthly closure of tax GL accounts. The officer will also monitor financial risk and strengthen compliance controls in line with local laws and corporate finance standards. The candidate must identify deviations, suggest solutions, and support corrective measures. The role further involves leading global e-invoicing implementation and ensuring compliance with country-specific VAT and GST regulations for airline operations. The candidate will prepare monthly tax-related financial statements, compute taxes under local laws, ensure timely payment of taxes, and file returns within prescribed timelines. The officer will also assist in payroll tax compliance, including income tax, social security contributions, and labour-related levies.
Additional Functions:
- Reviewing internal controls and implementing corrective actions.
- Coinciding tax-related accrual accounting across stations.
- Maintaining accurate GL schedules and compliance checklists.
- Reviewing taxation clauses in consultancy and commercial contracts.
- Supporting internal and external audits.
- Assisting in indirect tax litigation and advisory matters with external consultants.
- Conducting monthly impairment reviews in Oracle Financials.
- Supporting budgeting and cost-control measures through proper planning.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must hold a postgraduate degree in taxation from a recognised university. Preference will go to applicants with professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ICWA, LLB, or MBA Finance. Applicants must also possess at least four years of relevant work experience.
Required Skills
The company expects candidates to have strong knowledge of global e-invoicing systems and VAT/GST compliance frameworks. Applicants should also have experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle, tax engines, API integration, and data mapping. The role requires proficiency in spreadsheets and familiarity with aviation-related accounting practices. Candidates should understand contracts, corporate taxation, direct and indirect taxes, bookkeeping, accounting standards, withholding tax, payroll taxes, and management accounting.
