Global Payroll Tax & Compliance Manager
Job Summary
The Global Payroll Tax & Compliance Manager leads payroll compliance practices across multiple countries and jurisdictions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with internal standards and external regulatory requirements. This role oversees U.S. payroll tax operations and compliance activities, partners with various departments, and supports audits.
Job Responsibilities
Lead and support global payroll compliance activities across assigned countries and regions.
Monitor payroll-related statutory, tax, wage, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements in partnership with internal and external experts.
Maintain compliance calendars, controls, and documentation for recurring payroll deliverables and filings.
Identify compliance risks, process gaps, and control weaknesses, and escalate issues with clear recommendations.
Develop, document, and maintain payroll compliance policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
Strengthen payroll controls to support accurate processing, proper approvals, and audit readiness.
Partner with Internal Audit, Legal, Finance, and HR to address compliance findings and remediation plans.
Support risk assessments tied to payroll operations, vendor processes, and country-specific requirements.
Partner with payroll tax, finance, and external providers to support compliance with employer reporting and remittance obligations.
Review legislative and regulatory changes affecting payroll practices, employee pay, and employer obligations.
Coordinate implementation of compliance-related payroll changes across systems, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Manage all aspects of U.S. Payroll Tax and Accounting activities.
Prepare and maintain audit-ready payroll compliance documentation and evidence.
Track key compliance metrics, reporting deadlines, and remediation progress.
Drive process improvements that simplify payroll compliance workflows and reduce manual risk.
Support training and guidance for payroll and HR teams on compliance expectations and changes.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
Requirements: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), 5 years of Payroll tax experience (multi-state payrolls), experience with global payroll governance, SOX or internal controls, and regulatory change management, knowledge of payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and case/document management tools, experience supporting agency inquiries, audits, or payroll compliance remediation efforts, strong working knowledge of federal and state taxes/regulations, strong accounting skills, highly organized and detail-oriented, proficient in MS Excel, excellent communication skills (verbal/written), excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize, strong sense of urgency and personal commitment, ability to manage confidential information and requests.
