About the role
Pony Bird Employment Services is seeking to hire a full-time Job Placement Specialist. We are a Not-For-Profit agency in Jefferson County that provides employment supports to individuals with disabilities. The Job Placement Specialist will develop positive employment relationships with local businesses and employers, establish supports that enable individuals to access employment opportunities and navigate the hiring process, and teach skills that lead to successful competitive employment. The role includes professional representation of both the agency and the job candidate.
Responsibilities
- Maintain attendance according to agency policy and position requirements.
- Adhere to proper call-in and call-off procedures as outlined by agency policy.
- Complete and maintain all necessary training as outlined in agency policy.
- Demonstrate proper care and use of all agency property and materials.
- Adhere to all physical facility, health, and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all individuals served within the service area.
- Prepare individuals for job searches by developing resumes, thank-you letters, practicing interviewing, and utilizing appropriate job search methods.
- Assist with job searches, including filling out job applications, online applications, attending interviews, and advocating with employers.
- Promote the development of clients' communication and soft skills for interviewing and employment.
- Provide transportation to individuals served using agency or personal vehicles as needed to access community employment sites.
- Generate job development logs in a timely manner.
- Participate in staffings and communication with individuals served, family members, community partners, referral sources, and team members.
- Develop and maintain memberships and relationships with area employers and community organizations.
- Educate employers on Pony Bird services and identify employment opportunities in the community.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with experience in job placement or sales/marketing.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field preferred.
- Ability to travel independently while driving agency or personal vehicle to provide transportation for individuals served.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record to allow agency insurance coverage.
- Effective communication skills in both written and oral forms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of current computer applications.
Pay
Starting pay of $19.20–$22.75 per hour based on education and experience.
Schedule
40 hours per week with paid training.
