BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of an Assistant Principal, provide designated special education students with job and career readiness and guidance in the enhancement of vocational skills; visit job sites to oversee and monitor progress of student vocational activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years experience working with youth in an organized setting and one year experience in job search and placement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide designated special education students with job site and employment training and guidance in the enhancement of vocational skills; monitor, assess and adjust training activities in response to student progress, performance and behavior.
- Establish and maintain contact with local employers providing vocational opportunities to students; visit job sites to oversee and monitor progress of student vocational activities; assess student needs and abilities and provide appropriate job training strategies.
- Aid students in establishing and maintaining vocational goals; demonstrate a variety of vocational functions, tasks and activities; assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance.
- Provide students with community-based functions and learning activities to enhance social interaction skills, etiquette and manners; consult students concerning appropriate job site conduct, punctuality, work ethics, problem-solving skills and self-discipline; screen students for interview process.
- Serve as a liaison between personnel, students, employers and others regarding employment and vocational training services, opportunities and placement; report and confer with employers, faculty, staff and others concerning student progress, performance and behavior.
- Prepare and maintain student records, reports and files including attendance, grades, discipline, progress, time cards, work hours, journals and other related information; distribute paychecks according to established time lines; prepare or assist students in the preparation of applications, resumes, letters of recommendation and work permits as needed.
- Communicate with personnel, local agencies and various outside organizations to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues or concerns; communicate with counselors and case carriers to provide input on individual IEP’s and Transition forms.
- Manage the WorkStudy program for students earning elective credits; meet and counsel students who are having difficulty with their placements.
- Schedule, plan and attend college visits with special education students to connect them to disabled services on campus.
- Cookordinate with the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) counselor and supervisor for students requesting DOR services, and prepare intake paperwork; assist students with completing DOR applications.
- Report to case carriers on student progress in WorkStudy and/or WorkAbility programs; inform parents of services available.
- Conduct workshops and assist students with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), applications for Cal-Grants and applications for college enrollment.
- Document services provided in compliance with Department of Education (CDE) policies and procedures, standards and funding source requirements; prepare and submit data and reports to reflect monthly and annual activity to the Special Education department and the CDE.
- Create and distribute flyers and brochures to advertise WorkAbility services to employers, students and staff.
- Operate a variety of office equipment including copiers, scanners, fax and computers as required; utilize and assist students in operating a variety of job site equipment; drive a vehicle to conduct work.
- Attend and participate in a variety of meetings as assigned.
- Provide routine first aid to students according to established procedures as needed.
