About the role
Goodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (GWNYNJ) seeks an experienced Job Developer to join our dedicated team. We believe in the power of work and sustainable fashion to unlock the good in our communities. As a Supported Employment Job Developer, you will work with individuals with disabilities through a Customized Employment process, helping them find competitive jobs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Discovery process and prepare a final Discovery Report within 90 days.
- Develop community-based internship sites covering various career explorations, such as pharmacy, clothing, and big box settings like Target and TJMaxx.
- Place 25 individuals annually.
- Develop appropriate resumes for program participants.
- Maintain relationships with existing employers and develop new ones.
- Aid participants in finding, getting, and keeping jobs.
- “Job Match” participants based on their experience, temperament, and stated work settings and goals.
- Provide on-site job coaching when necessary.
- Be knowledgeable about Social Security work incentives and benefits plans.
- Manage paperwork as required by funding sources.
- Establish relationships with businesses for customized workplace training.
- Offer job search services, including resume writing and interview preparation.
- Manage online logs for all services provided to participants.
- Submit job orders, referrals, follow-ups, and verifications accurately and timely.
- Represent Goodwill in meetings and events.
- Ensure HIPAA confidentiality of participant records.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience working with persons with disabilities.
- Experience as a Job Developer or in a related field.
- Proven ability to cultivate and maintain employer relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong work ethic and flexibility.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
