Job Developer
About the role
American Training is seeking a full-time Job Developer to pursue, procure, and maintain employment and volunteer opportunities for Guests through liaison work with local businesses and organizations. The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable of and demonstrate the policies of American Training in Human Rights and confidentiality, supporting the organization's mission of "Bringing out the Best in Everyone we Touch, because Every Life Matters."
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Secure individual competitive employment for specified number of guests enrolled in CBDS/Employment Services.
- Develop relationships with businesses in all three geographic service areas to secure integrated group employment situations to meet contractual obligations as dictated by funding source.
- Set up career exploration opportunities for guests in the community in conjunction with site managers and mobile CBDS teams.
- Aid in implementing specific employment and community-related curriculums to support the successful operation of and "Employment First" CBDS Program.
- Develop a network of employment sites allowing guests to observe specific career clusters according to written career plans.
- Represent American Training Employment services at various networking and community groups to produce employment and community integration opportunities for guests.
- Direct the implementation of an ongoing, interactive, and community-based Job Club. Develop curriculums, exercises, secure guest speakers, and lead activities in all geographic areas to facilitate a vibrant learning-based Job Club.
- Network in the community to secure both individual and group volunteer opportunities for guests that promote community membership, skill-building, and employment readiness.
- Create learning-based opportunities for guests in the community to enhance cultural enrichment portions of CBDS programming.
- Work closely with site managers to ensure activities meet individual guest needs and fit into Mobile CBDS schedules.
- Seek out and secure unique opportunities for guests to not only "go" into their communities but to become recognized and valued members of the community.
- Adhere to monthly placement goals for job development team. Monthly reviews and quarterly indicators of success will guide adjustments if targets are not met.
- Develop a professional, technologically sophisticated presentation on our employment services to be shared with funders, families, and school systems.
- Collaborate with site managers, Day Service Director, and VP/Director on the development of ATI-owned and operated for-profit businesses and guest-operated businesses.
- Attend all required trainings and meetings.
Qualifications
- At least three years’ experience in the field. Management, sales, or job coach experience preferred. Job Coach/Job Development Experience a plus.
- Ability to advise, exercise good judgment, make thoughtful decisions, and solicit buy-in from managers, businesses, community stakeholders, and colleagues on new ideas and initiatives.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication with all levels of employers, management, colleagues, guests/residents, families, outside vendors, and members of the community.
- Proficient in computer skills.
- Maintain a standard of professionalism in appearance, attitude, and ethics.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
- Well-organized and possess good time management skills.
- Demonstrate skills for conflict resolution, both internal and external.
- Valid driver’s license, the use of a personal vehicle, and satisfactory CORI and DDS fingerprinting are required.
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting.
- Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds.
- Must be able to maintain a fast-paced environment with a high energy level.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry such articles as files and records.
- Must be able to assist in transfers, lifts, and personal care assistance.
- Must be able to perform first aid/CPR in response to emergencies and/or crisis plans.
- Frequent short deadlines, changes in work schedule, change in office assignments, or assigned tasks due to demands of the position.
- Work environment frequently hectic, fast-paced with periods of high stress.
- Must be able to calmly and analytically respond to individual crisis situations.
