About the role

The role involves supporting individuals with disabilities in developing, refining, and generalizing skills necessary for successful employment. Job coaches collaborate with coordinators and teachers/therapists to provide on-site job support, accommodations, and adaptations to facilitate student independence.

Responsibilities

  • Provides on-site job support to help students perform work duties.
  • Maintains accurate student data, including hours worked and performance on job.
  • Utilizes and assesses student preferences, skills, aptitudes, and strengths to identify potential employment opportunities.
  • Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Monitors and intervenes to ensure students complete ADL tasks.
  • Aids in the implementation of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and C.E.Rs (if applicable).
  • Aids in data collection and assists with setting up educational environments.

Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License required if transporting students.
  • Must be a Bucks IU “Highly Qualified” Paraeducator.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification Required.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training Required.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree.
  • At least 48 college/university credits.
  • High school diploma or equivalency and successfully pass a local assessment.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to take initiative, establish and maintain working relationships with community businesses/volunteer work sites.
  • Strong organization skills, must be an accurate record keeper.
  • Work effectively with individuals from a variety of educational, socio-economic, ethnic, and disability groups.

Schedule

Full-time, 185-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work will vary depending on assignment. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
