JJYS Lead Youth Development Specialist - Southwest Utah Secure Center

Full-time, in-office position located at 270 E 1600 N, Cedar City, Utah, 84721. Background check and drug test required.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and supervise youth with complex behaviors, serving as a lead worker and functionally supervising subordinates in scheduling, training, treatment planning, program facilitation, and development.
• Provide security, supervision, and direction to youth with complex behavioral problems to maintain standards of conduct, health, safety, housekeeping, and recreation.
• Oversee and work closely with high-risk/volatile youth, assessing physical, mental, social, and behavioral needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Conduct individual, family, or group counseling sessions in accordance with treatment plans.
• Identify and apply appropriate security, safety, and control intervention techniques.
• Write court reports, parole summaries, treatment plans, and supervision standards.
• Lead or functionally supervise staff, delegating work assignments, monitoring quality, scheduling, providing training, and contributing to performance appraisals, hiring, and discipline.
• Make decisions consistent with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
• Transport youth.
• Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Complete the Integrated Crisis Response (ICR) intervention program within 90 days of employment.

Requirements

• Preference may be given to candidates 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
• Six years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, six years of full-time education, or a combination of both.
• Valid Utah Driver's License.
• Qualifying work experience includes paid work at any JJYS facility, Utah State Hospital, Utah State Developmental Center, private residential youth programs, alternative schools, juvenile probation/parole, law enforcement, or programs working with at-risk or delinquent youths.
• Note: Volunteer work with youth and unpaid experience do not qualify.

Pay

$23.08 - $36.59 hourly.
