JHH Peds Cardiac OR Physician Assistant (Intrastaff)
About the role
The Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant works under the direction, supervision, and responsibility of a physician. They provide support to the surgical team through first and second assists. They also provide therapeutic patient care in various settings including the outpatient and clinic areas, Pediatric Cardiac Operating Room (OR), procedural areas, Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Pediatric Progressive and Acute Care Units, all under the direction of a physician and in accordance with established protocols.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates patients' health status through diagnostic procedures and tests.
- Supports the surgical team through first and second assists.
- Provides therapeutic patient care in the outpatient and clinic areas, Pediatric Cardiac OR and procedural areas, Pediatric Cardiac ICU, and Pediatric Progressive and Acute Care Units.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program.
- Licensure: Registered/certified by the Maryland Board of Quality Assurance. Board-certified (or certification-eligible for new graduates) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Current CPR certification required.
- If ordering or referring items or services for Medicare beneficiaries, an enrollment record in the Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System (PECOS) is required.
- AHA BLS & PALS certification.
- Two years of pediatric cardiac experience required.
Qualifications
Must be able to work full-time (40 hours) with weekend and on-call requirements.
Skills
Knowledge of pediatric cardiology, clinical skills, teamwork, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
