Professional & Personal Relationships

• Assists the head coach in submitting participant lists, bus times, parent permission, physical cards, and year-end reports.
• Maintains rapport with the athletic coaching staff.
• Participates in in-service meetings and other activities to improve coaching performance.
• Attends meetings necessary to the welfare of the Athletic Department.
• Develops sound public relations.
• Serves as a role model for good sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
• Works cooperatively with junior high coaches in developing a coordinated program.
• Completes duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
• Attends all meetings called by the Athletic Director.

Coaching Performance

• Develops respect by example in appearance, manners, behavior, language, and sportsmanlike conduct during a contest.
• Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport.
• Has individual and team discipline and control.
• Is fair, understanding, tolerant, sympathetic, and patient with team members.
• Teaches sportsmanship and rewards players who are good sports.
• Uses innovative coaching techniques and ideas in addition to sound, already proven methods of coaching.
• Is prompt in meeting teams for practices and games.
• Shows an interest in athletes in off-season activities and classroom efforts.
• Delegates authority with responsibility while remaining accountable for such delegations.
• Ensures team performance is consistent with the quality of athletes available.
• Supervises players in the locker room, practice, field, bus, and other areas.

Related Coaching Responsibilities

• Carefully attends to the care of equipment, including issue, collection, inventory, and storage.
• Is cooperative in preparation of non-league scheduling.
• Helps service clubs, Booster Club, Recreation Department, and other organizations in their projects, which relate to our athletic program.
• Follows proper procedure for purchasing equipment.
• Operates the sport within the budget as submitted.
