About the Role

Assist the store manager with daily tasks and act as the supervisor for the location in the absence of the store manager. Maximize financial performance of the store and help achieve growth and sales targets by managing and motivating the sales team. Create an emotional connection between Fred Meyer Jewelers and customers through engagement and communication during every shopping occasion, both in-store and online. Achieve personal sales targets while demonstrating the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Model Customer 1st behavior; deliver and encourage excellent customer service.
  • Maintain profitability of the location through sales and proper shrink and expense control.
  • Achieve personal sales targets by turning meaningful customer moments into celebrations with a fine jewelry experience.
  • Support the store manager in training and developing sales professionals; follow up on onboarding training for new team members.
  • Drive sales through personal targets (e.g., credit applications, protection plans, and Diamond Design Parties).
  • Foster long-term customer relationships through clienteling.
  • Coordinate store operations and display merchandise according to corporate merchandising plans.
  • Advise customers on jewelry quality, cuts, value, and gem selection; assist with mountings and settings.
  • Provide product knowledge, features, and benefits to customers.
  • Estimate repairs, inspect and clean customer jewelry, perform watch battery replacements, and adjust bands.
  • Suggest designs for custom jewelry.
  • Follow receiving and processing procedures; maintain overstock/understock conditions for ordering system integrity.
  • Maintain daily/weekly sales records and take appropriate action.
  • Respond to customer comments and complaints; complete incident and accident report forms.
  • Participate in inventory processes and complete case counts.
  • Assist with time and attendance processing, staff scheduling, and weekly work schedule entry.
  • Support special maintenance arrangements for the location.
  • Maintain flexibility to work any shift, including holidays and overtime.
  • Travel occasionally to other store locations to provide back-up coverage.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of 6 months Fred Meyer experience and 1 year jewelry sales experience; or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a drug test.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate accuracy/attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks/projects.
  • Complete Diamond Council of America (DCA) courses within a year of hire.

Desired Experience

  • Knowledge of Fred Meyer Jewelers policies and procedures.
  • Management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, First Place, Act, and Intranet.
  • Experience directing or participating on project teams.
