About the role

Blue Nile is seeking creative and talented Jewelers proficient in jewelry repair, cleaning, soldering, and sizing at our manufacturing facility in New York City. You will design custom jewelry or restore pieces to their original beauty, delivering a customer-first experience that exceeds expectations. Successful candidates will have exceptional knowledge of gems, metals, restoration techniques, and finishes.

Responsibilities

• Jewelry Cleaning
  • Prepare raw casted metal for pre-polishing, ensuring all surfaces are smooth.
  • Achieve desired ring size while maintaining perfect roundness and consistent thickness.
  • Identify areas needing repair.
• Solder/Laser Work
  • Solder gold and platinum heads to rings without damaging diamonds.
  • Size gold or platinum rings without leaving a seam.
  • Repair pin holes by lasering metal, cleaning, and smoothing the area.
  • Remove porosity without damaging the ring.
  • Mend cracks appropriately without damaging the ring.
• Additional Duties
  • Perform jewelry assembly (head/shank).
  • Set round, marquise, and princess-cut stones in solitaire mountings, half and full shanks.
  • Resize rings (up/down), retip prongs, solder rings, and handle simple fabrication and repair.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required; technical or jewelry program training preferred.
• Prior jewelry repair experience.
• Ability to complete a bench test for assessment.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Consistent, regular attendance is essential.

Pay

Base pay is $24.00–$34.00 per hour. Final pay rate is determined based on experience and qualifications.
