About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to support mission‑critical, large‑scale enterprise environments with a strong focus on real‑time data replication, high availability, and hybrid cloud integration. This contract role is hands‑on, engineering‑focused, and plays a key part in delivering data to Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and BigQuery. You’ll work across complex production systems, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and participate in an on‑call rotation to ensure 24×7 operational reliability.
Responsibilities
- Lead deployment, administration, tuning, and troubleshooting of Oracle in enterprise production environments
- Configure and support Extract, Pump, and Replicat for uni‑directional and bi‑directional replication
- Design and maintain full‑load + CDC pipelines from Oracle to GCS and BigQuery
- Implement file‑based ingestion (Avro, Parquet, JSON) and support MERGE operations in BigQuery
- Support Zero‑Downtime Migration (ZDM) and high‑availability architectures
- Administer Oracle databases (11gR2, 12c, 19c), including:
- Grid Infrastructure
- RAC
- ASM / ACFS
- Performance tuning and production support
- Manage ZDLRA, RMAN, and incremental‑forever backup strategies
- Diagnose performance issues using AWR, ASH, ADDM, trace files, logs, and heap analysis
- Troubleshoot replication across Oracle and MS SQL Server
- Support DR planning and testing across on‑prem, OCI, and hybrid environments
- Build operational dashboards, capacity metrics, and trend reporting
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, cloud, and development teams
- Participate in an on‑call rotation (evenings/weekends)
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience in enterprise production environments
- Strong expertise in CDC‑based replication and high‑availability architectures
- Experience delivering data into GCS and BigQuery
- Hands‑on experience with ZDLRA, RMAN, and enterprise‑grade recovery operations
- Strong SQL/PLSQL and Linux/UNIX administration skills
- Experience in troubleshooting large‑scale distributed replication environments
- Excellent documentation and incident‑response skills
- Experience with cloud‑based or hybrid replication services
- Knowledge of hybrid architectures across on‑prem, OCI, and Google Cloud
- Ability to contribute to architectural design and technical discussions
