Java Technical Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Java Technical Lead with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native application development to lead the design and development of enterprise-scale authentication and digital applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
• Design and build secure, scalable, and high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and business stakeholders to develop authentication and enterprise platform solutions.
• Implement and maintain API documentation standards using Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Develop robust CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and integrate quality and security tools such as SonarQube and Veracode.
• Ensure delivery of well-structured, testable, and maintainable code supported by comprehensive unit testing.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience leading development teams as a Technical Lead.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and Microservices.
• Extensive experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in database design, performance tuning, and optimisation.
• Experience implementing Swagger/OpenAPI specifications for REST services.
• Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience integrating and managing code quality and security scanning tools such as SonarQube and Veracode.

Qualifications

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Raleigh, NC. The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you’re engaged in, as well as business and client requirements.

Benefits

• The annual salary for this position is between $ 81,337 to $ 141,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
• This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
