Java Software Engineer
About the role
The thinkorswim development team is seeking a skilled Java Developer to join our dynamic team, contributing to the development of an industry-leading desktop trading platform. This role involves deep involvement in the thinkorswim Desktop application, as well as responsibilities related to the installer, Java JRE updater, Java UI, and various backend modules.
Responsibilities
- Performs product design and troubleshooting exercises of extremely high complexity requiring extensive research and analysis
- Led system design and specification development, program logic and flow-charting, debugging, and documentation
- Makes complex design choices to be used by the development teams
- Leads complex programming tasks, providing reviews of various development tasks and documentation
- Provides analysis of problems and recommends solutions
- A key contributor in client/technology interactions in the development of technology solutions
- Interfaces with Enterprise Architecture & Infrastructure teams on strategic designs and initiatives
- Traces and resolves complex problems in development and production environments
Requirements
- 3+ Years of Java, J2EE (both client and server side)
- 1+ Years experience working on the thinkorswim desktop application
- 3+ Years Experience with OOA/OOD, distributed systems/software, real time processing, relational database systems, messaging systems
- Experience working on high-transaction desktop trading systems
- Experience with concurrency & multi-threading
- Experience with scaling, Java Garbage Collection, and performance tuning
- Experience with agile, s-driven development
- Experience with Java Swing
- Experience with Unix/Linux, Windows
- Experience with build, deploy and s automation tools like Ant, Gradle, Maven and TeamCity, JUnit
- Demonstrated experience working with core business logic within applications
- Experience in developing APIs and Frameworks
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
