Java Software Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining responsive applications using a variety of technologies, while ensuring software systems meet quality, safety, security, and certification standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain responsive applications using Java, Python, C++, React.js, HTML, CSS, and related technologies.
- Design, develop, analyze, document, and maintain software systems that meet industry, customer, and internal quality standards.
- Perform software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities, and integrate and deploy mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.
- Utilize strong problem-solving skills to review performance issues, identify root causes, recommend direction, and develop solutions for optimal performance.
- Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient code within the existing codebase, ensuring alignment with established architecture and coding standards.
- Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance that impact your team and others.
- Support junior engineering talent through mentorship or technical guidance.
- Communicate effectively with end-users to design and build solutions tailored to their needs, and demonstrate a habit of self-directed learning of new technologies.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Java, Python, C++, React.js, HTML, CSS, and related technologies.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- 2+ years of experience with Software Engineering for Experienced-level, 5+ years for Career-level.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- Active Secret Clearance or Higher.
- 2+ years of experience with web-based development, leveraging ReactJS, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
- Experience identifying security vulnerabilities within source code.
- 5+ years of open-source software development experience.
- 3+ years of web socket programming experience.
- 3+ years of object-oriented programming (e.g., Java).
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting software and network integration during platform deployments.
- 3+ years of experience as a well-rounded engineer comfortable wearing multiple hats, such as a web designer, UI designer, and engineer.
- 3+ years of experience integrating and troubleshooting front-end and back-end software components.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices, along with experience supporting Government security requirements for software delivery.
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment utilizing Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or similar tools.

This is a Contract position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
