Hybrid position based at 5805 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752. W-2 employment with benefits; must be a US citizen, EAD, or Green Card holder.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays
- Some nights and weekends as needed
Responsibilities
- Oversee coding, testing, and debugging of programs according to technical and functional requirements
- Oversee preparation of test data
- Develop and/or prepare flowcharts and diagrams
- Prepare instructions for production runs and coordinate development of end-user manuals
- Lead research and analysis for project proposals, software and systems modifications, and new projects
- Analyze proposed applications for equipment requirements and capabilities
- Evaluate database schemas, write and run SQL code, and deploy packages/triggers
- Review and revise programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new procedures
- Analyze logs, system messages, thread connectivity, memory utilization, disk I/O, and disk space to troubleshoot application issues
- Confer with staff to schedule work and coordinate programming projects
- Prepare detailed analyses, plans, diagrams, and verification procedures for existing and proposed applications
- Develop standards and procedures for programming staff, interfaces, and reports
- Develop and implement specialized programs to supplement and enhance systems software
- Recommend, coordinate, and implement changes to improve application and system performance
- Create and maintain backup and restore processes to ensure business continuity
- Coordinate, assign, and track the work of others
- Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency policies
Requirements
- 15 years of Java experience (required)
- 15 years of SQL database experience (required)
- 8 years of sustaining and development experience supporting large applications in a team environment (required)
- 5 years of Linux experience (required)
- 8 years of Atlassian tool suite experience, especially JIRA (required)
- 8 years of Agile methodology experience (required)
- 2 years of experience with State of Texas applications (preferred)
- 2 years of experience with Texas Department of Public Safety environment (preferred)
- 2 years of experience transitioning applications from legacy mainframe to Java/SQL environments (preferred)
