Java Developer with ETL and AWS

This position is with a premium client through IT Engagements, a global staff augmentation firm providing talent on-demand and workforce solutions. Relocation assistance is available from nearby states. Hybrid work arrangement in Raleigh, NC.

About the Role

We are seeking a Java Developer with ETL and AWS expertise to collaborate with data modernization teams, designing and implementing AWS solutions that align with technical and business objectives. This is a 12-month contract role.

Candidates must have 12 years of software development experience, an AWS Certification, and experience with a state client. Preferred visa statuses: H1B, H4EAD, USC; secondary options include GCEAD or GC.

Responsibilities

• Modernize legacy applications by refactoring and migrating in-house systems to the cloud.
• Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level Data Lakes using AWS services.
• Develop, test, and debug Java-based, cloud-native applications and backend systems using Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, and Hibernate.
• Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines using cloud-based tools.
• Analyze data models and business requirements to propose effective modernization strategies.
• Validate data accuracy and integrity through database queries and back-end testing.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure test coverage.
• Utilize AWS services within application architecture, ensuring adherence to security best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, optimize application performance, and resolve technical issues.
• Deliver solutions within timelines using best tools and practices while monitoring cost, security, and reliability.

Requirements

• 12 years of software development experience with strong Java, J2EE, Java Spring Framework, and Hibernate skills.
• Hands-on experience with transactional or RDMS databases and SQL (complex queries, performance tuning, debugging).
• Experience with cloud-based ETL tools and data modeling.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum frameworks and DevOps practices/automation tools.
• AWS Certification (required).
• Experience with data analytics tools like PowerBI or AWS QuickSight (a plus).
• State client experience (required).
