Barclays Services Corp. seeks Java Developer - Markets Post Trade in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available). May telecommute pursuant to company policy [Hybrid].

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance Big Data systems using Java and related technologies.
  • Write shell scripts that process files or execute Java, Scala, and Spark programs for Big Data processing and regular processing.
  • Participate in requirement analysis, Agile Scrum methodology, and regular application code review sessions.
  • Analyze and transform a very high volume of real-time XML messages received over IBM Message Queues (MQ).
  • Implement data ingestion solutions from various sources using Big Data technologies, involving data transformation, filtering, and loading into HDFS and HBase.
  • Design and implement static code analysis and code coverage solutions using SonarQube, JaCoCo, Maven, and TeamCity.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to understand and analyze impacts due to trade data, feeds, and financial impact on the business.
  • Provide retrieval mechanisms for both live data-in-rest.
  • Participate in requirement analysis and effort estimation.
  • Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements and devise solution strategies.
  • Promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing through code reviews.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and contribute to the organization’s technology communities.
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
  • Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives, and coach employees.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors (Listen and be authentic, Energize and inspire, Align across the enterprise, Develop others).
  • Consult on complex issues and provide advice to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.

  • Perform complex analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources to solve problems creatively.
  • Communicate complex information effectively and influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $189,592 per year
Maximum Salary: $195,000 per year
The salary range includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include other types of compensation or benefits.
