About the Role
As an experienced Sr. Java Developer at Sammons Financial Group within our Corporate Markets business unit, you’ll join a team of experienced developers with the unique opportunity to play a key role in transforming a mission-critical insurance administration platform that has supported our business for more than 40 years. You'll help guide the migration from COBOL and VSAM-based mainframe technology to a modern Java-based architecture. This is a hands-on development role where you'll contribute to solution design, architecture discussions, and software implementation while helping mentor other members of the team.
This team supports all aspects of Bank-Owned Life Insurance (BOLI), Credit Union-Owned Life Insurance (CUOLI), and Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) within our Corporate Markets business unit. We strive to provide solutions that will position Corporate Markets for the future and maintain the great customer service our customers are used to and expect. Our modernization effort will allow us to meet the changing demands of our customers as we continue to grow in the future.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality applications that support critical business processes
- Identify and propose strategies around technical problems affecting business, communicate standards, and get consensus on solutions
- Collaborate with purpose. Work closely within your development team, architecture, and business partners to determine how to make our software even better
- Lead the implementation of complex solutions and continuously refine them based on stakeholder feedback
- Participate in application architecture, design reviews, and technical decision-making for our modernization initiatives
- Solve interesting and complex problems to create a positive customer experience
- Drive continuous improvement in both engineering practices and system capabilities
- Align technical solutions with broader business and modernization objectives

Requirements
- College Degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems (Preferred)
- Minimum 8 years' IT development experience or equivalent (Preferred)
- Effective verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with business partners and other IT staff
- Problem solving skills sufficient to perform research and recommend a proposed solution to problems
- Able to work on multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
- Able to effectively direct and coordinate the work of other team members on a project without having HR management responsibility for them
- Knowledge of computer programming languages as required for the system
- Criminal background check required
Pay
USD $84,721.00 - USD $176,501.00 /Yr. We are open to hiring this role at the Systems Analyst 1, 2, 3, or 4 levels based on your skills, experience, and demonstrated competencies. Leveling considers your qualifications, the scope and complexity you’ve owned, and alignment to the role’s scope.

- Systems Analyst 2: $68,462 - $114,102
- Systems Analyst 3: $84,721 - $141,201
- Systems Analyst 4: $94,134 - $156,889
Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary will be based on job level, candidate qualifications and experience, internal equity and geographical location.
