Java Developer

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Java Developer to join our Information Technology department on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing data utilization for a significant government project. Your primary responsibility will involve aggregating data from multiple existing sources, designing strategies for data collection, processing, storage, and reporting. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including business analysts, developers, and QA professionals to develop scalable, secure, and efficient enterprise-level web applications. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of large-scale systems and demonstrate expert proficiency in Java programming, especially within the Java Server Faces Framework, along with experience in web application development and database integration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing Java web applications using the Java Server Faces Framework.
• At least five (5) years of experience in Java web application user interface design and implementation, including proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Three (3) years of experience integrating Java web applications with SQL databases utilizing Hibernate.
• Three (3) years of experience in relational database design and SQL coding.
• Five (5) years of experience in software development, both independently and within team environments.
• Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Able to perform under pressure, prioritize multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business analysts and fellow developers to create comprehensive software designs that meet project requirements.
• Provide accurate work estimates to project managers and deliver regular progress updates to ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Translate software specifications and prototypes into high-quality, functional code using Java and related technologies.
• Develop, test, and deploy web applications, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and efficient.
• Integrate Java-based applications with SQL databases, utilizing Hibernate for ORM (Object-Relational Mapping).
• Design and optimize relational database schemas to support application data needs.
• Perform routine testing and debugging to ensure software quality and functionality.
• Coordinate with QA teams to develop testing procedures and acceptance criteria for deliverables.
• Implement system upgrades to enhance security, performance, and reliability of applications and infrastructure.
• Participate in knowledge sharing, training sessions, and documentation efforts to support end-users and team members.
