Java Backend Developer - Strong Kotlin Experience

About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Java Developer for a W2 contract engagement, offering an onsite work arrangement. This position is based in Phoenix, AZ, USA. Strong domain knowledge in key practices including microservices, RESTful APIs, Agile, and CI/CD is essential. This role requires the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, identify defects early in the development cycle, and ensure high-quality product delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Kotlin.
• Build and enhance Spring Boot-based microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Develop secure, high-performance, and reusable backend components following best coding practices.
• Integrate applications with databases, third-party APIs, and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka or RabbitMQ).
• Write unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or similar testing frameworks.
• Optimize application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and resolve defects.
• Containerize applications using Docker and deploy to Kubernetes or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams, participate in code reviews, and contribute to architecture discussions.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, Maven, or Gradle.
• Ensure code quality, security, scalability, and adherence to software engineering best practices.
