About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Java API engineer with strong leadership experience to drive the design and development of scalable backend systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java 17/21, Spring Boot, microservices, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems, along with a proven track record in leading technical teams and delivering high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of robust, scalable, and maintainable backend systems using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot
• Design and implement RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, and microservices with a focus on performance and maintainability
• Drive database architecture and optimization for SQL Server/Oracle and NoSQL databases
• Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to enhance system reliability, performance, and availability
• Utilize container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) for deployment and orchestration
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement complex system integrations
• Lead offshore/onshore development teams and participate in Agile processes including sprint planning and retrospectives
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or PowerMock
• Ensure code quality and security using tools like Sonar, Fortify, and Web Inspect
• Produce detailed documentation for microservices, including architecture, design decisions, and implementation guidelines
• Proactively identify and resolve bugs and performance issues in production systems

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of Java development experience with strong focus on Spring Boot and backend architecture
• 7+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in a Technical Lead role
• Expert knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java 17/21, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, Kafka, and event-driven architecture
• Experience with Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, and distributed system design
• Proven track record in designing and implementing complex system integrations
• Strong understanding of scalability, resiliency, performance tuning, and production support
• Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React) for UI development is a plus
• Relevant cloud architecture certification (e.g., AWS) is a strong plus

Pay

$100,000–$110,000 per year
