Java/AI Developer

About the role

The Java/AI Developer will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client data shared services platform. This position involves designing, developing, and maintaining optimal programming and environment solutions, collaborating with technical and business partners, and driving strategic planning discussions.

Responsibilities

• Research and development of functional and technical specifications documents for production and test environments.
• Develop plans for proof of concept and validation of technology/solutions.
• Develop and support the tools and processes to gather detailed user requirements.
• Participate in strategic planning discussions with technical, business, and client stakeholders.
• Identify gaps in processes and services across environments.
• Review programming and environment changes and raise awareness for potential impacts.
• Utilize programming tools effectively.
• Architect and develop effective solutions aligned with the organization's vision.
• Actively participate in product design and development sessions.
• Provide direction to less experienced Programmer/Analysts.
• Engage with both onshore and offshore teams to refine development practices.
• Write efficient, easy to follow technical documentation.
• Act as liaison between technical and non-technical counterparts.
• Help improve release process improvements, assisting the Scrum Master with team needs, and synchronizing team efforts for seamless product releases.

Requirements

• Demonstrated exposure to, or hands-on experience with, GenAI coding assistants used across day-to-day engineering workflows in the SDLC.
• Uses AI assistance for common dev tasks with clear ownership for correctness and quality.
• Applies GenAI in ways that reduce context switching and accelerate delivery across typical workflows.
• Practical familiarity with GitHub Copilot and/or Claude within IDE/CLI-style workflows.
• Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development, custom instructions and prompt engineering, with the ability to establish team-level practices for effective AI-assisted development.
• Experience with SQL structured programming, troubleshooting, and performance tuning relational databases on PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and/or MSSQL for high-volume, transactional applications.
• Experience developing relational and non-relational data models using enterprise modeling tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio.
• Experience with Java, Spring framework, Spring boot, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Gradle/maven, Cucumber framework, YugabyteDB, and PostgresSQL.
• Experience with modern messaging systems like Kafka.
• Prior experience in system modernization initiatives from legacy to distributed platforms.
• Experience with continuous build processes using Bamboo, Bitbucket/Git, or similar.
• Experience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA).
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or enterprise-approved AI tools.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience with SQL structured programming, troubleshooting, and performance tuning relational databases on PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and/or MSSQL for high-volume, transactional applications.
• 1+ years of experience developing relational and non-relational data models using enterprise modeling tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio.
• 3+ years of experience with Java, Spring framework, Spring boot.
• 1+ years of experience with cloud framework: Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
• 1+ years of experience working with build tools: Gradle/maven.
• 1+ years of experience working with Cucumber framework – BDD testing.
• 1+ years of experience working with YugabyteDB and PostgresSQL databases.
• 1-2 years of experience working with modern messaging systems – Kafka.
• Prior experience in system modernization initiatives from legacy to distributed platforms.
• 1+ years of experience with continuous build process using Bamboo, Bitbucket/Git, or similar.
• Experience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA).
