JTB Hawaii Travel, LLC (JHT) is Hawaii's market leader in innovative entertainment and travel services, evolving from on-the-ground travel support to a full-fledged destination management company (DMC).
Responsibilities
- Escort individuals or groups from Japan on sightseeing tours or to places of interest, such as commercial establishments, public buildings, art galleries, or museums.
- Provide interesting and educational information during tours.
- Assist with communication (translation) between customers and third-party establishments, including hotels, restaurants, technical visits, and site inspections.
- Tour Guiding in Japanese (75% of time):
- Follow set travel itineraries and schedules, catering to special interests and needs of individuals or groups.
- Assist and communicate with Tour Conductors in Japanese.
- Understand tour details written in Japanese.
- Complete the VIP ROYAL ROAD CUSTOMER’S TOUR REPORT in Japanese, if needed.
- Assist with Hotel Check-In/Out, Airport Check-In & Dining Reservations (25% of time):
- Assist customers with hotel front desk communication during check-in/out.
- Guide customers to airline check-in counters, security gates, and boarding gates, explaining departure times.
- Assist with reading and understanding restaurant menus and explaining meal payment processes.
- Provide consultation and advice during customers' stay in Hawaii.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of six months of customer service experience or equivalent; hospitality industry experience desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of the tour industry, tour movements, and arrangements.
- Working knowledge of Hawaii’s tourism infrastructure and understanding of different countries’ tour characteristics and needs.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in English and Japanese, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read tour itineraries in English and Japanese.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of hardware and software applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Working Conditions
- On-Call Status: No set schedule; work is assigned based on business needs. On-call guides may work for competing companies with full disclosure and written approval from a supervisor.
- Casual Status: Regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week; eligible for statutory benefits if requirements are met.
- Subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, including air conditioning, weather, dust, vehicle exhaust, and fumes.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to handle stressful situations and solve problems calmly and professionally.
- Ability to multitask.
- Constant: Standing, walking, vision, hearing, eye-hand-foot coordination.
- Occasional: Sitting, stair climbing.

Pay
