Responsibilities
- Evaluate customer requests to determine if items are of Smalley manufacture.
- Demonstrate understanding of retaining ring and wave-spring concepts and design applications required for product design.
- Provide phone support to customers.
- Investigate customer application design requirements to verify/provide optimal product recommendations and work with manufacturing to determine effective processes, including lead time, tooling, packaging, etc.
- Provide a detailed outline of customer requirements and sign-offs (initial for approval) for most designs.
- Demonstrate ability to interpret customer-specific specifications, such as quality specifications, materials, finishes, etc.
- Provide input on cost optimization and analyze lead time requirements.
- Contact customers and provide quotation information and/or determine action on quotation, when applicable.
- Explain design concepts for Drafting and Manufacturing to help with tolerance, part drawing, part layout, and design-specific notation.
- Investigate, analyze, recommend, and authorize design changes for Smalley products.
- Perform cycle testing and installation testing and recommend possible alternatives.
- Attend trade shows to assist Marketing and Sales with customer interactions.
Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read, and write Japanese fluently.
- Completed Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering from an accredited four-year institution.
- Proficient understanding of mechanical applications.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced work environment.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $95,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible.
