Janitorial Worker

About the Role

This position performs custodial work in offices, warehouses, industrial areas, and other building interiors, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation. The role is based in Newton, NJ and may require daily travel between buildings.

Responsibilities

• Clean floors, rooms, restrooms, breakrooms, and all common areas, including restocking dispensers, emptying trash/replacing liners, and sanitizing fixtures.
• Clean mirrors, doors, walls, vacuum, sweep, mop tile floors, and clean toilets and urinals.
• Set up, stock, and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Monitor and maintain sanitation and organization of assigned areas.
• Assist other departments to ensure optimum service to guests.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
• Adhere to company standards for quantity, quality, and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Maintain workplace behavior standards in completing job duties.

Requirements

Physical Activities

• Active work; may require standing or sitting for long durations and/or performing repetitious tasks.
• Lift or move objects up to 35 pounds.
• Grasp, manipulate, or assemble small parts and components.
• Work in moderate to occasionally noisy environments.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments.
• Safe handling and processing of chemicals (e.g., adhesives, lubricants, solvents) and operation of job-related equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience working for a cleaning service preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent working experience.
• Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Skilled in vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and applying finishes on various flooring materials and stairs.
  • Able to clean all fixtures and furniture safely.
  • Proficient in maintaining janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
  • Knowledge of modern cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Adept at using chemicals safely.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $18.00.
