About the role
These are hourly, non-exempt positions. The Porter provides excellent cleaning services, often requiring interaction with customers and the ability to prioritize work based on daily customer needs. This role requires work in high-volume and heavy-traffic sites or as an onsite individual crew member, where successful daily customer interaction and fulfillment of related requests within the scope of site work is key.
- Works directly with the customer daily and maintains excellent customer relations while executing customer requests and meeting daily janitorial duties
- Has a broad knowledge of cleaning and janitorial processes
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
- Ability to lead and provide solutions to various problems
- Performs other responsibilities as directed by the manager
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent cleaning services in high-volume and heavy-traffic environments
- Maintain strong customer relations through daily interaction and fulfillment of requests
- Execute daily janitorial duties efficiently and effectively
- Prioritize tasks based on customer daily work needs
Requirements
- Ability to lift and move totes up to 49 pounds
- Frequent walking within and around the facility throughout the entire shift
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 10–12 hours
- Ability to carry out detailed or written instructions
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safe handling sheets for chemicals (generally in English; may have in Spanish where state required)
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
Workplace expectations
KBS utilizes the KBSPresence mobile timekeeping software for accurate recording of employee work hours, attendance management, completion of required training, and distribution of important employment-related information. All non-exempt employees are required to download and use the KBSPresence app on their personal mobile devices to clock in and out for their shifts and breaks. In accordance with applicable local laws, cell phone reimbursement is provided to support the use of personal devices for work-related tasks.
