About the role

BGIS is a leading provider of integrated real estate management services, including facilities management, project management, energy & sustainability services, strategic workplace consulting, real estate services, and capital planning. The Janitorial Manager provides guidance to the cleaning team and oversees custodial operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, client and BGIS safety compliance, and serving as a liaison between front-line team members and BGIS business leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong leadership to guide team members in reaching their full potential and meeting corporate goals.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and performance management for all team members.
  • Support site cleaning and supervise team members.
  • Train and develop teams, implementing efficient use of materials, machines, and cleaning processes.
  • Communicate regularly with the client to maintain professional relationships and ensure retention through high service levels.
  • Address client needs with urgency, meeting response time requirements.
  • Coordinate and support cleaning of customer sites in accordance with contract policies and procedures.
  • Ensure quality consistency and increase standards.
  • Support facility and operations teams to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Partner with the culinary team to ensure program efficiency and team member needs are met.
  • Coordinate occasional overnight shifts with the team.
  • Organize regular meetings with management to discuss issues and opportunities.
  • Develop a safe and positive work environment for teams.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • Manage budget for operational programs and equipment.
  • Partner with Environmental, Health, and Safety to ensure safe working conditions.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in facilities management.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Service-oriented focus; self-motivated, confident, energetic, and flexible.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients through responsiveness and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to perform essential job duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
  • Cognitive skills required for a safety-sensitive environment, including maintaining focus, clear communication, quick response to requests, and adherence to processes.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits (reimbursed).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The role requires cognitive skills to work in a safety-sensitive environment, including maintaining focus, communicating clearly, responding quickly to requests, and completing tasks within targeted time frames to minimize risks.
