Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of janitorial staff.
  • Train, coach, and retrain employees to ensure proper cleaning procedures and safety standards are followed.
  • Inspect work areas to ensure quality and compliance with company expectations.
  • Resolve employee and operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Communicate effectively with management, staff, and clients.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma.
  • Previous supervisory experience in janitorial or facilities maintenance.
  • A valid state driver’s license and a good driver’s record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A flexible schedule, including the ability to work some evenings as needed.
  • Available to retrain employees, address performance concerns, and solve workplace problems.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and practices.
  • Ability to instruct custodian’s employees in the performance of manual tasks requiring moderate strength.
  • A thorough knowledge of the operation of all mechanical cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and other correspondence related to the job as necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with subordinates as well as other supervisors and management personnel.
  • Ability to partner with clients individually, in families, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they face.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources, and outside services in addressing client needs.
  • Ability to perform in job recruiting process of recruitment of new hires/candidates.

Mental/Physical Demands

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructional materials, operation instructions, books, catalogues, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the supervisor is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • The supervisor frequently is required to sit.
  • The supervisor is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
