About the Role
Janitors are responsible for performing all-purpose cleaning and preservation of an assigned area, which could include buildings, hospitals, warehouses, shopping malls, or other facilities. The role requires flexibility, as duties may change at any time with or without notice.
Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning tasks in assigned facilities.
- Adapt to changing duties as directed by a supervisor.
- Safely use and handle cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Lift and move office equipment, trash, and other items, including frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work in environments with exposure to dust, fumes, cleaning products, noise, and biohazards (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, sewage, hospital waste).
- Operate in indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to weather extremes.
Requirements
- Ability to perform repetitive physical movements, including sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and twisting.
- Capability to use hands for grasping, handling, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and carry objects from the floor, tables, shelves, and overhead, including occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs and frequently exerting 10 to 20 lbs of force.
- Comfort working at heights and around equipment, machinery, and uneven ground.
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
