About the role
As a 24/7 inpatient facility, the CIC offers a rewarding opportunity to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients and staff. This role supports the center’s mission by ensuring all areas meet high sanitation standards while fostering a trauma-informed space.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, offices, kitchens, and shared spaces.
- Maintain a clear sanitation schedule to ensure consistent cleanliness and safety.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces and biohazard areas using appropriate cleaning agents and protective gear.
- Safely handle, dilute, and store cleaning supplies.
- Manage waste disposal, including biohazardous materials, following proper protocols.
- Keep janitorial closets organized and cleaning tools in top condition.
- Stock bathrooms and common areas with necessary supplies.
- Maintain clear hallways and exits for safety and emergency preparedness.
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Participate in quarterly fire, tornado, and emergency drills.
- Create and maintain a welcoming, trauma-informed environment.
- Uphold confidentiality of individuals receiving services.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Preferred experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or healthcare cleaning.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safe dilution, and proper PPE use.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, and bending.
- Must pass all background checks and screens.
- Physically capable of handling high-pressure or crisis situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals with serious mental illness or functional impairments.
Pay
- Starting at $14–$17 per hour, with shift differentials available (earn $1–$3 more per hour).
- $500 sign-on bonus.
Schedule
- PRN (as-needed) position, up to 28 hours per week.
- Typical shift: 5pm–10pm, with ideal coverage for 5-hour weekend shifts (additional weekday shifts available).
