Janitor/ Custodian - General

About the role

The position involves performing general cleaning inside buildings, exterior grounds, and walkways. Duties include cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors and stairs; restocking supplies in break rooms and common areas; emptying trash cans and replacing liners; dusting and cleaning office desks and furniture; maintaining janitor closets; ensuring janitorial equipment is clean, safe, and operational; and reporting work accomplished to the supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
• Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of flooring and stairs.
• Cleaning sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms.
• Restocking supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• Emptying all trash cans and replacing liners, cleaning receptacles as necessary.
• Dusting and cleaning office desks and furniture that are not cluttered.
• Cleaning windowsills and windows.
• Maintaining janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
• Maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
• Wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
• Maintaining general cleanliness of grounds.
• Performing other routine basic cleaning duties as assigned.
• Reporting work accomplished orally or on written work order to supervisor daily.
• Following proper timekeeping protocol.

Qualifications

• Six months or more related experience.
• Physical demands: ability to lift up to 25 pounds, frequent bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, and stooping for more than 4 hours at a time, repetitive movement for up to 4 hours at a time involving the shoulder, hands, knees, hips, and back.

$17.00/Hour
