About the role
Turner Industries Group is seeking a Janitor for a long-term position at a facility in Old Ocean, TX. This role follows a 5-8 schedule and is ideal for local candidates. Overtime may be required, and the schedule is subject to change.
Responsibilities
- Assist skilled construction workers in performing assigned duties.
- Maintain premises, rest areas, working areas of offices, industrial buildings, and outer grounds in clean and orderly condition.
- Perform tasks such as dusting furniture, walls, fixtures, or equipment; sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, or buffering floors; removing refuse; polishing furniture, fixtures, or trimmings.
- Clean lavatories, showers, or restrooms.
- Perform a variety of non-mechanic tasks and adapt to changing tasks as the project progresses.
Requirements
- Must pass a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
- Must complete Hazard Communication orientation/test.
- Must complete Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination.
- Must wear OSHA-approved corrective eyewear (Z87) if required.
- Must complete job site orientation and adhere to client-specific safety requirements (e.g., clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots).
- Must use safety equipment as required by the client (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard).
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of self or others in the workplace.
- Previous industrial experience is a plus.
- Must pass a drug and background screen.
Physical Involvement
- Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc., above and below ground level.
- Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, or structures.
- Reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials.
- Coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment.
- Lifting 30–50 lbs. from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead.
- Carrying objects, equipment, etc.
- Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, and crawling.
- Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
Mental Involvement
- Following set procedures and standards.
- Selecting proper tools for tasks.
- Repeating tasks of short duration according to set procedures.
- Performing a variety of duties that may change frequently.
- Following oral and/or written directions.
- Reading and writing.
- Recognizing and reporting safety hazards.
Work Environment
- Location: Industrial construction sites or any building.
- Mobility barriers: Uneven ground, obstructed pathways, work at low/high elevations, confined areas.
- Climatic/environmental conditions: Predominantly outdoor work; exposure to extreme hot/cold weather, humidity, rain, and various noise levels from tools, machinery, or equipment.
- Potential exposure to chemical substances.
