Janitor
Full-time position, Monday to Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm. Pay rate: $18.93 per hour.
About the Role
The Janitor cleans all working areas, washrooms, and premises of a building. Duties involve a combination of sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, removing trash, dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures. This position requires a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Cleans floors, bathrooms, working areas of buildings, and other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, or scrubbing.
- Inspects all equipment for proper operation prior to use.
- Performs high and low dusting, vacuuming, disinfecting, spot cleaning, and trash removal as needed.
- Organizes site supplies by replenishing as needed.
- Empties and decontaminates trash containers.
- Disposes of infectious waste when assigned.
- Mixes or blends routine cleaning solutions to proper concentration as necessary for various tasks.
- Washes blinds, windows, screens, sills, and walls with prescribed solutions.
- Launders rags, mops, etc., from sites.
- Identifies and reports any potential safety hazards to Supervisor.
- Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
- Adheres to Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operations procedures.
- Adheres to Property Control Plan for management of Government Furnished Property (GFP).
- Adheres to the safety and health program that complies with EM 385-1-1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), Federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and health requirements.
- Maintains a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A, EM 385-1-1.
- Performs other tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school education or GED.
- 1-year relevant work experience within a commercial custodial/janitorial environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to effectively work with other team members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Must pass and maintain any required security clearance requirement.
- Must comply with Drug Free Workplace policy.
- Must be able to climb a step ladder and communicate effectively with customers.
- Detail-oriented with basic organizational skills.
- Ability to organize effectively, solve problems quickly, and communicate clearly.
- Focused with a drive to succeed.
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts.
