Janitor

Responsibilities

• Cleans floors, bathrooms, offices, hallways, locker rooms, break rooms, shower rooms, holding cells, surfaces, and other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, and polishing using specialized equipment.
• Inspects all equipment for proper operation prior to use.
• Performs high and low dusting, vacuuming, disinfecting, spot cleaning, and trash removal as needed.
• Polishes metal fixtures and trimmings.
• Helps organize site supplies by replenishing as needed.
• Empties and decontaminates trash containers.
• Disposes of infectious waste when assigned.
• Cleans vents in every office.
• Mixes or blends routine cleaning solutions to proper concentration as necessary for various tasks.
• Washes blinds, windows, screens, sills, and walls with prescribed solutions.
• Sweeps sidewalks, porches, and tiled surfaces.
• Launders rags, mops, etc. from sites.
• Picks up trash, chips, and paper around buildings.
• Identifies and reports any potential safety hazards to Supervisor.
• Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
• Adheres to Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operations procedures.
• Adheres to Property Control Plan for management of Government Furnished Property (GFP).
• Adheres to the safety and health program that complies with EM 385-1-1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), Federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and health requirements.
• Maintains a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A, EM 385-1-1.
• Performs other tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.

• High school education or GED.
• 1-year relevant work experience within a commercial janitorial environment.
• Ability to organize effectively, solve problems quickly, and communicate clearly.
• Focused with a drive to succeed.
• Ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts.

Physical Requirements

• Standing and walking for long periods of time in a commercial janitorial environment.
• Prolonged standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, reaching with arms, climbing, and balancing.
• Ability to regularly lift 25-50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Clear vision of less than 20 inches to greater than 20 feet; ability to identify and distinguish colors; peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

• May work in extreme temperatures: wet, hot, cold, or humid conditions (indoor and outdoor).
• May work near moving mechanical parts; in high precarious places; areas with fumes or airborne particles; with or around toxic or caustic chemicals.
• May work in areas where the risk of electrical shock, explosives, radiation, or vibration is present.
• Exposure to noise levels ranging from very quiet to very loud.

Schedule

This is a non-exempt full/part-time position; work schedule varies and may require weekends.
