About the Role

Join our team at the Cleveland Cliffs Facility in Middletown, OH as a Janitor, performing general labor tasks across various industrial job sites.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and empty trash cans
• Clean bathrooms, breakrooms, windows, blinds, curtains, and offices
• Restock toilet paper, paper towel dispensers, and soap
• Load and unload materials for each job, ensuring all necessary items are available on-site
• Restock toiletry materials in bathrooms
• Use vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops, dusters, shop vacs, and cleaning carts
• Perform manual tasks such as cleaning bathrooms, offices, hallways, and conference rooms
• Inspect, use, and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, FR uniforms, metatarsal boots, and gloves
• Adhere to all quality and safety requirements, ensuring a safe work environment
• Follow job-specific safety procedures and report potential hazards or safety concerns
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in all work areas, including job sites and equipment storage areas
• Execute additional responsibilities as specified by the site manager or client

Qualifications

• Must be drug-free and comply with company drug testing policies
• No medical conditions that would impair the use of respiratory equipment
• Able to pass a basic medical exam as required
• Able to stand, kneel, bend, and work for extended periods
• Able to bend to within 6 inches of the ground and perform tasks at various heights
• Able to climb ladders and stairs without difficulty and work from heights when necessary
• Manual dexterity sufficient for handling small tools and parts (e.g., nuts, bolts, and fasteners)
• Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. with assistance
• Able to work in extreme temperature conditions (both hot and cold)
• Good vision and hearing to identify hazards and ensure safety

Work Environment

Work will be performed in various industrial settings, both indoors and outdoors, including:

• Chemical plants
• Steel mills
• Automotive plants
• Power plants
• Other challenging industrial environments

Exposure to potential hazards, including extreme temperatures and industrial chemicals. PPE is required for protection.

Knowledge

• Ability to understand basic equipment operating instructions and safe work practices
• Familiarity with commercial and industrial janitorial processes, including cleaning operations
• Understanding of safety regulations and ability to apply them in practical settings

Skills

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
• Effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, and clients
• Comfortable working in diverse industrial environments with varying conditions

Education & Certifications

• High school education preferred, but not mandatory
• Current driver’s license preferred
• OSHA Safety Training required
• Ability to obtain a chauffeur's license for advancement opportunities
• Powered Industrial Truck certifications (e.g., hi-lo, aerial lift, burden carrier) desired
