Janitor

About the role

The janitor at Merchants Building Maintenance, LLC is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly environment through routine cleaning, waste removal, and adherence to company and client standards.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces
• Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and counters
• Refill supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper)
• Empty trash and maintain odor control
• Collect and dispose of trash from all designated areas
• Replace liners in trash receptacles
• Handle recycling according to guidelines
• Clean tables, countertops, and appliances (microwave, refrigerator, sink)
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in breakroom/common areas
• Follow all company safety procedures and client guidelines
• Use cleaning chemicals properly and safely
• Report hazards, damages, or maintenance issues promptly
• Reports to: Supervisor/Area Manager
• May be required to submit reports or photos of completed work

• Ensure all areas meet client expectations and inspection standards

Qualifications

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in janitorial or related field is preferred but not required. Applicants must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a valid driver's license if travel is required.
