JANITOR

This is a temporary full‑time position lasting from September 1 to November 6, set aside for a person with a disability. Core working hours are 7:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, located in Falls Church, VA. The hourly wage is $17.84. The position requires a pre‑employment criminal‑history background check and government security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop hallways, stairs, and offices
• Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash in a prescribed manner
• Dust horizontal surfaces
• Empty and wash ashtrays
• Clean bathrooms
• Wax and buff floors with prescribed buffers
• Clean glass and windows
• Wash walls and other vertical surfaces
• Sweep and clear snow from outside steps and sidewalks
• Polish kick panels, doorknobs, and other designated fixtures
• Strip and wax floors
• Vacuum rugs
• Mix cleaning solutions
• Maintain issued equipment
• Notify the supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks
• All other duties assigned by Custodial Foreman

Physical Qualifications

• Stand 80 % of the work time, walk 15 %, sit 5 %
• Lift/carry up to 50 lb and push/pull up to 50 lb
• Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and handle ladders and stairs
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and co‑workers
• See, have depth perception, and distinguish colors for safety and chemical identification

Qualifications

• Three to six months of training or experience, or the ability to learn the essential functions
• Ability to pass security clearance for designated contracts
• Ability to pass required pre‑employment criminal‑history background check and government security clearance
