Janitor

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Janitor to join our team, where our mission is to provide job skills training, a compassionate culture, and employment opportunities for disabled veterans and other people with disabilities. Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Janitor will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining buildings, indoor and outdoor restrooms, receptacles, and parking areas, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all.

Responsibilities

• Use cleaning equipment, including automatic floor machines, commercial vacuums, wet mops, large wringers, and other necessary tools, chemicals, and supplies.
• Dry and wet mop floors, scrub and buff floors with rotor and other machines, and vacuum carpets to maintain cleanliness and control bacteria.
• Transport trash from utility rooms and other collection points.
• Perform routine heavy cleaning, including special cleaning of induction units, walls, lighting fixtures, and windows (both inside and outside).
• Move furniture and set up meeting rooms as needed.
• Clean offices, break rooms, and conference rooms.
• Empty, clean, and re-bag trash receptacles.
• Identify safety hazards and abide by safety rules.
• Document inspections and other maintenance activities.
• Perform minor grounds keeping and/or landscaping duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• One year of relevant experience.
• Complete Bloodborne Pathogen training.
• Reliable, responsible, and dependable.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, techniques, skills, materials, and methods of janitorial work.
• Physical ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
• Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
• Ability to lift between 25-50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
• Pass a background check and screening requirements as mandated by contract and company standards.
