Janitor

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma and 1 year previous janitorial experience or 5 years of janitorial experience in lieu of a high school diploma
• Equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained
• Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bending, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing and working alone for long periods of time
• Ability to work well under minimal supervision; Capacity to take direction; Strong attention to detail

Requirements

• Performs general clean-up of all areas of the building as directed - sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting
• Completes non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders
• Remove garbage and recycling daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up
• Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests

Responsibilities

• Work is performed in a variety of settings including office and laboratory environments, as well as in outdoor areas
• Frequently stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, climb, sweep, reach/work overhead
• Frequently lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds
• Perform repetitive motions
• Perform desk-based computer tasks
