Responsibilities
In the Janitor role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment across assigned facilities. This role ensures that buildings and surrounding areas meet health, safety, and sanitation standards by performing routine cleaning, maintenance support, and basic facility upkeep. Key duties include:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, and break rooms
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors; shampoo carpets as needed
- Empty trash and recycling bins; replace liners and dispose of waste properly
- Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, mirrors, and fixtures
- Dust and wipe down furniture, equipment, and high-touch surfaces
- Report repairs, damages, or supply shortages to supervisors
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools safely
- Follow proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures
- Set up or break down rooms for meetings or events as needed
- Maintain outdoor areas such as entrances, walkways, and parking areas (as assigned)
- Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining open communication and addressing issues promptly
- Monitor supply levels, prepare orders, and submit orders to Property Leasing and Vehicle Fleet Manager for approval
- Perform proper cleaning procedures when bloodborne pathogens are identified
- Attend and participate in program and agency meetings, trainings, and events
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- 1+ years of experience in the janitorial or cleaning industry, preferred
- Experience working with homeless or disabled populations, preferred
Skills
- Ability to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation standards, and safe chemical use
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, floor buffers, scrubbers)
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Time management and ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Awareness of workplace safety and hazard prevention
- Reliability and strong work ethic
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet daily schedules
- Good communication skills for reporting issues or coordinating with staff
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality over all matters during business operations, including client and employee information
- Basic knowledge of PC computers and utilizing web-based applications and Internet information
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping
- Ability to climb stairs and use ladders as required
- Manual dexterity to operate cleaning tools and equipment
- Ability to work in confined spaces or awkward positions
- Ability to tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and odors
- Visual acuity to identify dirt, spills, and safety hazards
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and indoor/outdoor environments
- Potential exposure to contagious diseases (hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis, etc.)
- Exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes, odors, dust, temperatures, noise, and inclement weather

Hourly Rate: $22.00
Schedule
Hours: 6:30am-2:30pm or 8am-4:30pm
