Janitor

**JOB SUMMARY** This position is responsible for keeping assigned buildings in a clean and orderly condition; reporting system and maintenance problems to the supervisor. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and vacuums hallways, stairs, and office space. Turns lights on or off as required. Cleans bathrooms and replaces toiletries as required, washes walls and windows, and dusts woodwork. Performs minor maintenance such as painting and light bulb replacement. Empties office and department trash and garbage containers. Orders cleaning and other supplies and maintains adequate inventory. Notifies management concerning the need for repairs or additions to lighting, heating, ventilating, and other installations and equipment. Occasionally performs additional duties in the Courthouse or assists with additional custodial work, such as shampooing carpets. Occasionally may assist with grounds maintenance, snow removal, and grass mowing.
