Non-exempt position in a long-term care and assisted-living facility.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vacant units for new residents, ensuring each unit meets company standards and checklist.
  • Maintain assigned work areas in a safe and attractive manner.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks: sweep/mop floors, vacuum, take out trash, clean restrooms, dust, sanitize sinks, toilets, tubs, and shower areas, clean mirrors, lighting fixtures, doors, and walls, polish furniture.
  • Inspect and ensure all aspects of the property—grounds, building, and vacant apartments—are clean.
  • Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning.
  • Participate and assist in departmental studies and projects as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a passion for caring through interactions with co-workers, residents, families, and visitors.
  • Maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, and housekeeping areas.
  • Perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of duties.
  • Follow oral and written instructions concerning the mixing of cleaning compounds, liquids, and disinfectant solutions.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an 8th grade education.
  • On-the-job training provided.

Work Environment

  • Works in all areas of the facility.
  • Moves intermittently during working hours and is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies, and others under various conditions.
  • May encounter hostile or emotionally upset residents and family members.
  • Communicates with maintenance personnel, nursing staff, and other department supervisors.
  • Works beyond normal duty hours, weekends, and in other positions temporarily when necessary.
  • Subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster).
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
  • Exposure to potential hazards: falls, burns from equipment, odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, air contaminants, infectious waste, diseases (including TB, AIDS, and Hepatitis B viruses), and hazardous chemicals.
  • May assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile individuals.
  • Must meet general health requirements, including mental and physical examinations as per facility policies.
  • Must possess adequate sight and hearing senses (or use prosthetics) to perform job requirements.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and transport such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
