About the role

The City of Tolleson seeks candidates for the position of Janitor (M&O Maintenance Worker). This role involves providing routine cleaning and custodian services throughout City buildings, including tasks like sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors, removing trash, dusting, light maintenance, changing light bulbs, changing air filters, washing windows, and picking up papers or debris.

Responsibilities

• Routine cleaning and custodian services throughout City buildings
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors
• Removing trash, dusting, light maintenance, changing light bulbs, changing air filters, washing windows inside around buildings
• Picking up papers or debris
• Disinfecting and cleaning restrooms, dusting, polishing, and waxing furniture
• Emptying trash, washing and cleaning walls, windows, and vents
• Performing related work as assigned

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in assigned area of responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• A high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution highly desired
• Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License

Physical Demands

• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
• Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects
• Atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, hazardous materials such as chemicals, oils, and blood and other bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, exposure to the elements, travel across rough, uneven and rocky surfaces, and environmental conditions such as disruptive people, imminent danger, and a threatening environment
