Jail Officer

Duties

• Ensure conformity with rules and regulations
• Govern the conduct and behavior of the inmate population and staff
• Assume responsibility for the security and welfare of inmates
• Prepare various reports, logs, and documents

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license
• Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen
• Must not have been convicted of a felony
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
• Experience in a Jail or corrections facility with a public, private, or military agency preferred but not required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D.

• U.S. citizenship
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
• No felony convictions

Skills

• Knowledge of jail and correctional facility operations
• Ability to maintain security and ensure inmate welfare
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Pay

Starting pay is $55,893.00 per year with full benefits.
